Suppers of Eight provides an excellent opportunity for sharing meals at “home” in small groups. All who sign up will enjoy a meal at some parishioner’s home once each month for four months, January, February, March, and April of 2017.
Each pair of participants will serve as host and provide the main course and beverage one month and will go to another home and take a vegetable dish, salad and bread, or dessert to share the other three months. As much as possible, participants will be with entirely different groups of eight each of the four months.
Signup deadline is December 25th. Before January 1, a schedule for participation for all who have signed up will be published. January hosts will be chosen from those who have participated and already know the process. No later than the first of each month, hosts will contact those who are scheduled to come to their homes and suggest two or three possible dates. Participants respond promptly so a mutually acceptable date for the suppers can be quickly established. Email works great for most people for reaching quick agreement on the date.
Suppers of Eight works best for adult couples and “pairs” of folks who decide to participate so, if you are single, find a friend and sign up together. If you want to participate but just aren’t in a position to host right now, sign up as a substitute. I guess you will get an invitation or two, but no guarantees.
Just sign up and drop it in the offering plate! Or, you can email Darryl Williams (firstname.lastname@example.org) for more information and a link for online signup. His phone is 803-238-8831.
